Our Free From Lactose Gouda is a smooth textured mild and slightly sweet everyday cheese, matured for a minimum of 2 months. Lactose, also called milk sugar, is found in dairy products. Lactase, an enzyme in humans, is needed to digest lactose. These enzyme levels might fluctuate causing a sensitivity to lactose. Some cheese-making processes and ageing naturally breaks down the lactose in milk. Rigorous lactose level testing assures that our gouda is free from lactose.
